Singing Classes
Streching children's imagination
Sing out loud with Singing, Dance and Drama
For reasons we at StageCoach find difficult to understand many schools regard singing as a 'Cinderella subject' when it comes to the performing arts. At StageCoach Theatre Arts we see singing as a keystone subject and one that can fire the imagination of most kids. Singing boosts self-confidence and self-esteem and is also great fun.
We devote one hour out of our three-hour weekly lesson to singing. During this time we teach your child to breath correctly and warm up their voices with a selection of vocal exercises. After the basics have been understood we then teach your child a varied selection of age applicable songs. We aim to inspire your child to explore the words and value the music, fostering in them a love of music and singing.
Performing Arts for children are what StageCoach is all about, alongside singing they also spend an hour on dance and an hour on drama work. Combining these skills leads naturally into musical theater work which kids find thrilling. Quite often a student joins StageCoach with an interest in one specialty, at StageCoach we emphasis all three specialities knowing that they will become more capable performers and boost their self-confidence.
We all know someone who has been put off singing for life as a result of one misjudged comment when they were a child. Not being chosen for the school choir at a sensitive time in their lives can hurt a child's confidence and dull their appreciation of music. It only takes one inspirational teacher to open the doors to the fantastic world of singing and music, inspiring a passion that will last a lifetime. StageCoach teachers aim to discover and nurture that musical ability. We design our singing classes to be upbeat and fun, but at the same time encourage musical accuracy, good intonation, vocal control and the development of a good musical ear.
When somebody tells us they are 'tone deaf' it usually means they have no confidence in their musical ability. At StageCoach our mission is to develop this confidence, this helps children (especially boys) over difficulties with their vocal development. We also look to cultivate their listening skills. We hope that in years to come this will mean that the phrase 'tone deaf' becomes obsolete. Making a few mistakes in singing classes is to be expected, they key to success is recovering and learning from them, this is crucial for any singer.
Throughout our performing arts classes and the singing classes in particular we encourage kids to develop a broad repertoire of songs to sing for both pleasure and performance. Once your child has mastered the basic skills of vocal technique and breath control they will go on to develop a love for both lyrics and music. Our classes will help your child learn the essentials of singing such as, key, pitch, rhythm, timbre, dynamics, speed, texture and vocal colour.
