At Stagecoach Vaughan & Richmond Hill, we swap Screen Time for Stage Time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For a few hours each week, nobody is scrolling, swiping or watching someone else have all the fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our students are the ones doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They’re singing. Dancing. Acting. Creating characters. Making each other laugh. Learning choreography. Telling stories. Using their imaginations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They’re not consuming someone else’s creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They’re discovering their own.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There are no usernames in our classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kids talking to each other, working together, being silly together, solving problems, making friends and gradually becoming comfortable enough to be themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some of our favourite moments aren’t performances at all. They’re when a child encourages someone else, gets the whole room laughing or finally finds the courage to put their hand up and say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI’ll try.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n Stagecoach isn’t another activity where children spend the afternoon sitting behind a desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They dance. They move. They use their voices and bodies to create characters. They play drama games, rehearse scenes and learn choreography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For three hours every week in Main Stages, they’re actively participating in singing, dancing and acting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And after a week filled with classrooms, homework and screens, sometimes moving around and making a little noise is exactly what kids need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We also want our students to experience something that can feel increasingly uncomfortable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Getting things wrong.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Forget a line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Miss a dance step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sing the wrong note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Make an acting choice that absolutely does not work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then laugh, adjust and try again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Children need places where they can take safe risks and discover that making a mistake isn’t a disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s how we learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s how we grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And it’s how confidence is built.<\/p>\n\n\n We’re not going to pretend we can eliminate screens from childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Frankly, we’re parents too. We know better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But we can give kids something worth putting the screen down for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A room full of other young people where they can move, laugh, create, perform, make mistakes, make friends and discover what they’re capable of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So if you’ve been thinking…<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat’s enough screen time.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe it’s time for some Stage Time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Stagecoach Performing Arts Vaughan & Richmond Hill<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Singing.
