Our Beginnings
Inspiring Creative Courage for Life Since 1988
Frustrated with travelling between different performing arts classes for her son, Stephanie Manuel had a vision: one place where children could sing, dance and act under one roof. Together with David Sprigg, she made it happen, and Stagecoach was born.
From the beginning, Stagecoach was about more than performance. It was about helping children build confidence, make friends and develop skills they could carry with them beyond the classroom.
First Summer Showcase
Our Annual Summer Showcase Started in 1991
Originally launched in 1991 as “Easy Stages,” Summer Showcase was created to bring students from different Stagecoach schools together for one collaborative performance.
Today, Canadian Stagecoach students can apply and audition for this immersive two-week experience, taking part in rehearsals before performing in a professionally staged musical.
Becoming a Franchise
Helping More Children Access Performing Arts
Stagecoach became a franchise in 1994, allowing passionate local Principals to open and run their own schools while remaining part of the wider Stagecoach community. This model helped bring Stagecoach classes to more children and young people in more communities around the world.
Stagecoach Around the World
Bringing Stagecoach to Canada
As Stagecoach grew internationally, Canada became part of the story in 2011. Since then, Stagecoach schools across Canada have helped children and teens develop confidence, creativity and performance skills through singing, dancing and acting.
Disney Dance the Dream
Magical Experiences at Disneyland Paris
Stagecoach students have the opportunity to take part in special performance experiences, including Dance the Dream at Disneyland Paris.
Canadian students attended the event for the first time in 2025, joining the wider Stagecoach community for a memorable international performance opportunity.
First Canadian Showcase
Celebrating Stagecoach Students Across Canada
The Canadian Showcase has become a special highlight for Stagecoach students, bringing young performers together for an unforgettable theatre experience.
In 2026, Stagecoach celebrated 10 years of the Canadian Showcase, marking a decade of productions, friendships and moments on stage.
A Fresh New Look
The 2017 Stagecoach Rebrand
In 2017, Stagecoach introduced a fresh new look, replacing the original stagecoach logo with the uplight and shield design used today.
This was also when the brand introduced its message of Creative Courage for Life; a phrase that reflects what Stagecoach helps students build every week.
Guinness World Record Holders
Celebrating 30 Years of Stagecoach
To celebrate its 30th birthday, Stagecoach set a Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous performance of one show across multiple locations. Schools from the UK, Germany and Canada took part in a performance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the same time.
