There are some performance opportunities that feel a little bigger than the usual.

Recently, Stagecoach Ottawa West students were invited to perform at the Canadian Franchise Association National Convention at The Westin Ottawa, representing Stagecoach students from across Canada.

For the students, it was a chance to step into a very different kind of performance space. This wasn’t their regular classroom, or even a familiar theatre. It was a national conference, in a major downtown venue, with an audience they had never performed for before.

And they rose to it.

One of the things we value most at Stagecoach is giving students opportunities to use what they are learning somewhere new. Singing a song in class is one thing. Standing together in an unfamiliar venue, waiting for your cue, stepping forward and performing for a room full of people is something else entirely.

They joined Stagecoach Canada CEO Kristi Wenaus to perform A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman, helping to close the event in front of delegates from across the country.

It gives students a chance to test themselves a little, trust their preparation and discover that they can handle more than they might have thought.

Sometimes confidence looks loud and fearless. Sometimes it is much quieter: taking your place, joining in, trusting the people around you and knowing you have something to contribute.

That is exactly why we love creating opportunities like this.

Performing beyond our regular classes gives students another chance to stretch themselves, work as part of a team and feel what it is like to be trusted with a real performance opportunity.

We were incredibly proud to see our Ottawa West students take their place on that stage, represent Stagecoach on a national level, and share the experience with the families cheering them on.

It was a pretty special afternoon that won’t be forgotten soon.
