At Stagecoach Ottawa West, ages 4–18 build confidence through weekly singing, dancing and acting classes in Kanata and Barrhaven, learning to speak up, share ideas and work with others.
Whether they love performing or are new to it, students make friends, take on challenges and discover what they can contribute onstage and beyond.
Stagecoach Ottawa West is part of the Stagecoach network, established in 1988.

Meet the team
Meet our Principal
Carling Connor has over 20 years’ experience in the performing arts as a performer and educator, including eight years teaching within the Stagecoach network in the UK. She specialises in musical theatre, vocal development and directing, and holds qualifications from Sheridan College and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Passionate about inclusive, child-centred education, Carling creates a supportive environment where children can build confidence, creativity and teamwork.

Alex Jacobs
Alex holds a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre from the Guildford School of Acting. A professional performer since age 8, he also teaches with Stagecoach and the Ottawa Catholic School Board. His credits include The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Wind in the Willows, Mary Poppins and Jersey Boys, alongside screen and cabaret work. Alex is passionate about helping students build confidence through storytelling and ensemble work.

Micah Jondel DeShazer
Drama
Micah Jondel DeShazer (he/they) is an award-winning actor, director, conductor, educator, and arts administrator. He is the Founding Artistic Director of Unexpected Thétre and former AD of TACTICS Theatre Group. Freelancing as a stage, fight, and intimacy director, he serves on the board of Blackout Theatre Society. Credits include Beowulf in Afghanistan, The Tempest, Snow in Midsummer, Heathers: The Musical, Puzzles, and Native Son. He holds a BA in Theatre & Music from Grand Canyon University.

Mikayla Garba
Dance
Mikayla trained and competed in dance for nine years across jazz, tap, ballet, musical theatre, lyrical and contemporary, earning several 1st overall awards and a scholarship to train with international choreographers in Toronto. She is currently studying psychology at the University of Ottawa and hopes to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. Passionate about the confidence dance gave her, Mikayla creates an inclusive, supportive environment where children can grow as dancers and individuals.

Rawan Ismail
Singing
Rawan holds a Master’s in Vocal Interpretation from Haute École de Musique de Genève, a Graduate Diploma in Performance, and a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice from McGill University. With extensive performance experience in contemporary opera and orchestras, Rawan has sung in various languages and styles. A finalist in the 2025 Concours mélodies at HEM Genève, Rawan teaches at Stagecoach, fostering a supportive environment for students to discover their unique voices and enjoy singing.

Callie Killeen
Early Stages
Callie holds a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario College of Teachers and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Trent University. With over four years of teaching experience and a passion for dance, she is trained in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and musical theatre. Callie fosters a fun, supportive environment for young performers, helping them develop performance skills and essential life skills such as confidence, communication, teamwork, and self-expression.

Sloane Goveas
Dance, Early Stages
Sloane holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Political Science from St. Francis Xavier University, with a concentration in Ethics, Politics and Law. A competitive dancer for 12 years, she trained in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, pointe and highland dance, later expanding into improv, singing and theatre. Sloane is passionate about helping young people build creativity, teamwork, self-esteem and confidence through the performing arts.
